Biography

Ever since I could pick up a pencil (or crayon), I was drawing, and my subject matter was always around the horse. My passion for drawing and painting these animals has only grown over the years, and I am never in short supply for inspiration living in Calgary AB, aka cow town.

As a child and teenager, I exposed myself to horses as much as city life would allow me by volunteering with trail rides, going to horse camps, and helping out with my unt and uncles horses. That love I felt then has continued into my adult years as I make the horse the focal point of my art.

My paintings are based around realism, with a touch of whimsy. I like to keep my backgrounds simple, but with a touch of colour, and texture. For me, the idea that you can touch a painting and feel where the brush was used just adds to the experience. The focus is always the horse, as I try to showcase their beautifuly strong, yet graceful features with detail and accuracy.
